Yesterday, I went to a political rally in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Hillary Clinton was the speaker on behalf of Barack Obama. It was a lot of fun to be there -- and the neatest part was that I was able to walk to the event. So when it was over, and there was lots of traffic getting out of the park, I just stood and watched the crowds, and then walked the few blocks home. It was really fun to feel part of the political process. Before the rally, Luis and I had already stood in line for a little over an hour to vote in early voting, since we will both be out of town on Election Day.

Luis & Sheryle at Daytona Beach
These photos were taken when we flew to Daytona Beach. It is a very busy airport because there is one of the premier flight universities in the U.S. located there. The airport is attached to the Daytona 500 race track, so that was pretty neat also to see the race track when we flew in. There was some sort of minor racing going on, but not the famous Daytona 500 race. I can only imagine how crazy the air space would be on a major race weekend. Not sure I'd want to fly in for that -- probably would be too busy for my comfort.

Downtown Tampa
We flew to downtown Tampa. The weather was spectacular, and it was a great day. Tampa is a very pretty city, and we flew in to the original airport back from when it was still a very small town. They have expanded the main airport to another location, but this original airport was very quaint, and was actually on a small island in Tampa Bay.

Dog Park on Fort Lauderdale Beach
On Saturday afternoon, after a great day of flying to the Gulf Coast of Florida, Luis and I met some friends on a portion of Fort Lauderdale Beach that is reserved for folks and their dogs for a few hours on each weekend. It was so much fun, seeing families with their dogs running in the ocean and in the sand. Our friend's puppy is the small black puppy.

This is for Caleb and Scott
Venice Beach, Florida
Yesterday, Luis and I had a fabulous day. We flew to Venice Beach, Florida, and the airport where we landed was immediately adjacent to the beach. After we landed, we walked the short couple of miles to the beach, and had lunch at this really neat seafood restaurant called Sharky's on the Pier. There was a long fishing pier attached to the restaurant, and after lunch, we walked to the end of the pier and took some photos looking back toward the shoreline. The water was gorgeous, and everyone seemed to be catching a lot of fish.
