A Gorgeous Sunset Photo

Nadia really loved to take photos, and she caught this beautiful shot while we were driving back over the bridge from Biscayne Bay driving towards Coral Gables.

Edgardo, Martha, Nadia & Andrea visit from Buenos Aires, Argentina

Luis' best friend from childhood, Edgardo, came for a visit with his family.  They stopped here in Florida for two days on their way to spend the holidays with Martha's family in Monterrey, Mexico.   We crammed a lot of sight seeing, shopping, eating, and visiting into two short days.  It was a great visit, and a highlight of our holiday season so far this year.   It was very special being able to spend quality time with good friends.

a Couple more Photos of the Boat Parade

Winterfest Boat Parade in Fort Lauderdale

Saturday night, we went to the Winterfest Boat Parade.  There were about 100 boats and yachts that there decorated with Christmas lights and the parade started downtown, down the river, and then down the Intracoastal Canal.  There were thousands of people watching, and the parade was really pretty.  The photos are a little blurry, but you can get an idea of what it looked like.

The Head Family

Here are a few photos of the Head family taken in Houston during the Thanksgiving weekend.  I love these photos.  They make me smile.

New Orleans Lakefront Airport

The New Orleans Lakefront Airport is primarily used for general aviation planes, and is a beautiful place to land.  However, three years after Hurricane Katrina, it is a very sad place that is still in serious need of repair.

New Orleans Jackson Square

This is the famous New Orleans Jackson Square in the French Quarter.  On our return trip from flying to Houston for Thanksgiving, we stopped in New Orleans for fuel for the plane and lunch. This part of New Orleans received minimal damage from Hurricane Katrina, and thus it looked pretty much like normal -- which was really beautiful on this gorgeous day.  The rest of the city, however, is still in really bad shape.

Seaside, Florida from the air

a beautiful view of Seaside, Florida from about 1,500 feet.  This was the magical real-life town where they filmed the movie The Truman Story.

Luis in Seaside

Just enjoying vacation ... relaxing and beautiful place.

Seaside Beach

This is our new favorite beach town in Florida -- Seaside Beach.  This is the little town where they filmed The Truman Show, the movie with Jim Carey.   It is hard to believe this is a real place because it is so beautiful.

Santa in Florida

This photo is especially for Callie and Barbara:  see, there REALLY is a Santa.  And he is relaxing in Florida, getting ready for his big day.

Another beautiful beach in Florida

Here I am on the Santa Rosa Beach in the Florida panhandle.  We were both shocked at how beautiful the beaches are here -- this is obviously the Gulf of Mexico and the water was a gorgeous blue.  I hate to admit it, but these beaches are even prettier than "my" beach in Fort Lauderdale.

VACATION -- Yippee

We started our vacation yesterday, flying ourselves from Fort Lauderdale to Houston for Thanksgiving with my family.   We took this photo by placing the camera on the dash of our plane, while we were flying.  I like this photo a lot -- you can see we were both very happy and having a great time.

My Family at the George Ranch Historical Park

This is almost my entire family -- we were missing my husband, Luis, my nephew David, and my niece's husband and the father of the three beautiful children, Scott.  Other than that, it was just about a perfect day.

Samuel enjoying the day at the Park

What a sweet baby!  He was really good at the park, and even though it got just a little warm during the day, he was still a very good baby.

Barbara, Ted, Caleb and Callie

This is a fun photo from the family day at the George Ranch Historical Park.

Political Rally

Yesterday, I went to a political rally in downtown Fort Lauderdale.  Hillary Clinton was the speaker on behalf of Barack Obama.  It was a lot of fun to be there -- and the neatest part was that I was able to walk to the event.  So when it was over, and there was lots of traffic getting out of the park, I just stood and watched the crowds, and then walked the few blocks home.  It was really fun to feel part of the political process.  Before the rally, Luis and I had already stood in line for a little over an hour to vote in early voting, since we will both be out of town on Election Day.

Sunset as seen from 3500 feet

These photos were taken as we were flying home last night from Daytona Beach.  We were flying at 3500 feet, and the skies were really beautiful.

Luis & Sheryle at Daytona Beach

These photos were taken when we flew to Daytona Beach.  It is a very busy airport because there is one of the premier flight universities in the U.S. located there.  The airport is attached to the Daytona 500 race track, so that was pretty neat also to see the race track when we flew in.  There was some sort of minor racing going on, but not the famous Daytona 500 race.  I can only imagine how crazy the air space would be on a major race weekend.  Not sure I'd want to fly in for that -- probably would be too busy for my comfort.

Downtown Orlando

On our way home from Tampa, we flew to Orlando, which was lots of fun.  We visited with a friend at the airport there just to take a little break, before we continued flying home.  I love living in Florida.  It is a beautiful state, and we are really enjoying flying here.

Dogs Get Thirsty Too

I absolutely love this water fountain that we found in Tampa.  Notice the bottom portion of the water fountain for dogs.  How cute is that???

Tampa Bay

Here are a couple of photos of Tampa Bay, and the original airport in Tampa.
