A Gorgeous Sunset Photo
Edgardo, Martha, Nadia & Andrea visit from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Luis' best friend from childhood, Edgardo, came for a visit with his family. They stopped here in Florida for two days on their way to spend the holidays with Martha's family in Monterrey, Mexico. We crammed a lot of sight seeing, shopping, eating, and visiting into two short days. It was a great visit, and a highlight of our holiday season so far this year. It was very special being able to spend quality time with good friends.

Winterfest Boat Parade in Fort Lauderdale
Saturday night, we went to the Winterfest Boat Parade. There were about 100 boats and yachts that there decorated with Christmas lights and the parade started downtown, down the river, and then down the Intracoastal Canal. There were thousands of people watching, and the parade was really pretty. The photos are a little blurry, but you can get an idea of what it looked like.

The Head Family
New Orleans Lakefront Airport
New Orleans Jackson Square
This is the famous New Orleans Jackson Square in the French Quarter. On our return trip from flying to Houston for Thanksgiving, we stopped in New Orleans for fuel for the plane and lunch. This part of New Orleans received minimal damage from Hurricane Katrina, and thus it looked pretty much like normal -- which was really beautiful on this gorgeous day. The rest of the city, however, is still in really bad shape.

Political Rally
Yesterday, I went to a political rally in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Hillary Clinton was the speaker on behalf of Barack Obama. It was a lot of fun to be there -- and the neatest part was that I was able to walk to the event. So when it was over, and there was lots of traffic getting out of the park, I just stood and watched the crowds, and then walked the few blocks home. It was really fun to feel part of the political process. Before the rally, Luis and I had already stood in line for a little over an hour to vote in early voting, since we will both be out of town on Election Day.

Sunset as seen from 3500 feet
Luis & Sheryle at Daytona Beach
These photos were taken when we flew to Daytona Beach. It is a very busy airport because there is one of the premier flight universities in the U.S. located there. The airport is attached to the Daytona 500 race track, so that was pretty neat also to see the race track when we flew in. There was some sort of minor racing going on, but not the famous Daytona 500 race. I can only imagine how crazy the air space would be on a major race weekend. Not sure I'd want to fly in for that -- probably would be too busy for my comfort.
