Luis and Lauti at Airport in Buenos Aires

I love this photo of Luis with his nephew at one of Luis' favorite places -- an airport looking at airplanes.

My Family in Buenos Aires

As I am writing this, Luis is on his way to visit his family in Buenos Aires.  They are all very excited to see him, as it has been a while since we were there.  This will be one of the first trips that I did not go with him, but I know they will have a great week.  Have fun -- wish I was there.

My Favorite Espresso in B.A.

Here is my favorite espresso place in Buenos Aires.  Espresso is very popular there, but their coffee places are much fancier than Starbucks.   You will never see any one walking down the street carrying a paper coffee cup.  If you are in a hurry, you will have your espresso while standing at the bar of the Espresso Bar.  Otherwise, you will sit and enjoy your espresso or latte which is always served with a small complimentary cookie.

A Very Common Sight in Buenos Aires

You frequently see people walking lots of dogs at one time in the big city.   The dogs are very well trained, and they patiently wait while the dog-walker goes into each apartment building to either pick up or return a dog to its appropriate home.  There are many dog parks in town where they will take the dogs and let them play off the leashes.  The first time you see this it is so funny.

Buenos Aires, Argentina -- A Beautiful City

Buenos Aires is my husband's home town, and where all his immediate family lives.  Buenos Aires is a gorgeous city, with many large city parks.  Here are just a few of my favorite photos from the city.

Landing at Marathon Key

This is the view as we were landing at Marathon Key.  Florida is such a beautiful place, and I really enjoy being able to fly around and experience the beauty from the air.

Miami Beach

Even though I have already posted some photos of Miami, these were so pretty, I thought I'd share a few more photos.

Aventura

These photos were taken as we flew south of Fort Lauderdale towards Miami.  Aventure is about half way between the two cities.   I really like a couple of these photos a lot.

The New River runs through downtown Fort Lauderdale

Downtown Fort Lauderdale from the Air

This morning we flew from Pompano Beach to Marathon Key, which is located halfway between Miami and Key West.  Marathon Key is the second largest key (Key West is largest).  We flew almost immediately over downtown Fort Lauderdale, and I got these great photos of where we live.  These photos were taken from approximately 2,000 feet.

Garden Photos for my sister Barbara

I couldn't help but wish my sister was with me when we found this neat little garden park in St. Augustine.   This garden was located behind a unique little shop that I spent about an hour looking at all their treasures.

A Funny Photo

This photo was taken in St. Augustine.  We were walking in the historic district and there were tons of people and some of them gave a new view on spoiling a dog.

More Photos from St. Augustine, Florida

These photos were taken on the 4th of July 2008.  I love St. Augustine, and can not wait to return and explore more of the beautiful city.  It is the oldest city in North America and these photos were taken in the historic district.

Rapid City, South Dakota

When we visited Mount Rushmore last year, we stayed nearby in a neat little city called Rapid City.  Being the closest city to Mount Rushmore, everything in the city revolves around the U.S. Presidents.  All around town are life size statues of every President.  Here is a photo of me with John Kennedy and John Jr., Luis with Lyndon B. Johnson, and Luis with Jimmy Carter.  It was a lot of fun.

Crazy Horse, South Dakota

When we visited Mount Rushmore, we also visited Crazy Horse, which is located only a few miles away.  Crazy Horse is on an Indian Nation, and it is still a work in progress.  First there is a photo of us with Crazy Horse in the background.  The other photo is at the guest center and shows what it will eventually look like when it is finished.  At the current rate, I expect it will take several more decades before they finish it.

Mount Rushmore

Last year, Luis and I visited Mount Rushmore.  I'm so glad we visited there while we still lived up north, because it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere.   Even though we had seen pictures all our lives, there is nothing that compares to seeing it up close and personal.

One Year Anniversary of I-35 Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis

It is hard to believe but it has already been one year since the I-35 Bridge collapse over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.  The bridge collapsed during the height of the traffic hour shortly after 6 p.m.  This photo was taken a few weeks later as my husband and I flew over the area.  It was really a very frightening thing to see.

Additional Kemah Boardwalk photos

A few more photos from Kemah.

Kemah Boardwalk with My Family

We went to the Kemah Boardwalk today to ride the amusement park rides.   It was a beautiful day but very hot (hello, it is August in Houston!).  We would take frequent breaks inside the Starbucks enjoying iced drinks and their air conditioning.  Everyone had their own favorite rides, and since we got there pretty early in the day, there were no lines, so we all rode each ride many times.  I think we all had a great time, and it was really fun.  I have lots of fun memories and some great photos taken by my great nephew Caleb (gosh that makes me feel old).
